Brian was educated at CBC Monkstown Park and attended University College Dublin where he graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL Hons) in 1995. He then studied at the UCD Smurfit Postgraduate School of Business where he obtained a Diploma in Business Studies (DBS Hons). Brian was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in 1999 and after a year working in a law firm in Sydney, he returned to Ireland and has practiced here since.
Brian is a Partner in Crowley Millar on our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department. He works primarily in the areas of Dispute Resolution where he specialises in Defence Litigation, Licensing, Landlord & Tenant disputes and Construction Law.
Brian has a recognised expertise in defending a wide variety of litigation cases. He regularly advises clients in the insurance and construction sectors and manages a broad case load. The cases include a variety of tortious disputes, high value personal Injury and complex insurance.
Landlord & Tenant
Brian has had a particular interest in the area of Landlord and Tenant law since qualification. He routinely advises both lessor and lessee on the myriad of issues which arise on foot of tenancy arrangements and has acted on both sides of the divide in both Circuit and High Court actions including a number of injunctive applications.
Arising from a significant portfolio of active publican clients Brian is a regular attendee at the licensing sittings in Dublin and covers applications ranging from ad interim transfers to the purchase/receipt of new licences. Brian was involved recently in a widely publicised licensing action in the Dublin Circuit Court involving an objection to a new licence.
Brian acts for a well-known stakeholder in the building sector and routinely advises private and corporate clients in the general construction sector. He has accumulated significant experience in alternative dispute forums such as arbitration and mediation.
Since the enactment of the 2014 Companies Act corporate clients have become more conscious of the ever changing landscape in this field. Brian has commonly advised our corporate client base on a multitude of issues including re-structuring, acting in an insolvent company and director’s duties and obligations.
